Great Stay
We loved the personal tour and hearing the history of the B & B. Rooms were lovely and we had a great time playing pool & listening to records with our friends. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious and served warmly by Claudinne. The atmosphere was relaxing snd the grounds were wonderful to relax and explore. Claudinne and Jeff were fabulous, dedicated hosts who clearly are passionate about what they are doing.

Perfect location for a quiet retreat with beautiful surroundings
Perfect location for a quiet retreat with beautiful surroundings- working farm with amazing lavender, wildflowers, and exquisite views of the bay. Hosts are welcoming and wonderful. Tasty breakfast on site made by owners- great pool table, abundance of records to play, as well as serine outdoor seating. Highly recommend. Biking, hiking, cute small town, Amish farmers markets, and a few notable restaurants. Excellent distillery and winery close by. Everyone we came in contact with was kind and friendly. Restaurants directly across from location with bay side dining.

charming, comfortable, serene
Susannah’s Watch is a B and B that is full of history. It’s charming, comfortable, serene, and lovely. I had a restful stay, the amenities were wonderful, and the hosts were full of tips for sight-seeing. Claudinne and Jeff are affable hosts, and they go the extra mile to ensure the comfort of their guests. In my 50 years of domestic and international travel, Susannah’s Watch is in my top 5 % of places. It’s on my to-do list to make it back there in the next few months. I recommend it heartily, without reservation. Thanks, Claudinne and Jeff Miller!

What a gem off the beaten path
What a gem off the beaten path. The hospitality was some of the best I have seen and the home was picturesque. Definitely planning a return trip and even contemplating holding my wedding ceremony here. The perfect balance between comfortable casual farm house and elegant backdrop for formal events. Can’t say enough good stuff!

Susannah’s Watch is as good as it gets
Traveling during a pandemic poses challenges and adds some stress to the outing. This trip to was to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary and we wanted to get away from all of the craziness, be ourselves and just enjoy some sense of normal. Our time at Susannah’s Watch was just the ticket. Claudinne was most responsive to all of our questions during the booking process and offered a “host free” stay — which we declined because of the robust health protocols being followed at the inn. Moreover, we wanted to spend time with our hosts to learn about the property and understand the roles that past owners played in the history of the area. Claudinne and her husband Jeff are great stewards of the place and it was an absolute joy to listen and learn. Saint Mary’s County is rich in Maryland’s history and the state’s agricultural heritage of tobacco and whiskey. Claudine was a wealth of knowledge in where to go and what to see; we happily followed her recommendations and were not disappointed. A huge shout out to the folks at the Tobacco Barn Distillery. As for the accommodations, they rival a 4 star European hotel and include a generous continental breakfast offering authentic French croissants baked fresh on the premises. We’ve traveled extensively and can attest that, from top to bottom, and end to end Susannah’s Watch is about as good as it gets. You will not be disappointed! Claudinne and Jeff have a great love for the place and we look forward to returning…often.

Gorgeous Venue
I had the pleasure of staying over the weekend at this GORGEOUS new venue. The rooms are wonderfully arranged. The beds are sooooo comfortable. I didn’t wakeup at all like I normally do at home. The staff is hospitable and accommodating. We woke up to the smell of warm croissants in the oven. I highly recommend this as a staycation, a place to stay while looking for a home, a place to hold a small intimate wedding, a place to hang your hat while working on base, etc.

Highly recommend
Highly recommend. My wife and I stayed in the Susannah Suite room, which was very comfortable and quiet. We felt fully comfortable with the B&B’s COVID-19 policy that made it easy to socially distance. Susannah’s Watch has a great view and it’s easy to get to local wineries and other tourist locations. We specifically enjoyed the Leonardtown Wharf and downtown. Hope to visit again and will refer friends to travel there too.

A perfect weekend getaway
Wonderful staying at Claudinne’s. First off, she and Jeff are truly amazing hosts. Very warm, friendly, flexible and hospitable. I am an Airbnb Superhost so I don’t say this lightly! My girlfriend and I got to stay in the Vineyard room which was spacious and perfect for our getaway weekend. One of our highlights was having long, lazy breakfasts (Claudinne’s warm pastries were awesome) on the front porch while enjoying beautiful, direct views of the river. Very romantic. So much to do and explore in that area. Or if you want, you can do nothing at all and still have a magical time. We will be back!

Engaged!
My partner and I spent a wonderful weekend here to get out of the city. Beautifully restored house, comfortable rooms, and nothing beats waking up to the smell of croissants. We enjoyed the surrounds, and the billiards room and record player!
Claudinne and Jeff were very kind hosts, and we’ll certainly be coming back to visit the spot where we got engaged!Steven Google Review August 14, 2020
Susannah’s Watch is such a treasure!
The river views are amazing, and the house is comfortable, full of fascinating history, and decorative touches that made us feel relaxed and at home there. Our purpose was a relaxing family trip, and we enjoyed a family visit on the comfortable porch where we saw deer and a fox in the peaceful, wooded area, we had a lovely walk among acres of crops (that will soon be a vineyard) to the barn and stripping shed, which, in addition to the house, also make a perfect area for weddings and gatherings. We had a private whiskey tasting at the house in a room used for the groom and his party for weddings, and we were fortunate to stay in Susannah’s Suite, an incredibly beautiful, relaxing suite for a getaway. It was the most beautiful place I’ve seen where a bride and her bridesmaids could be pampered. The spaciousness, unique lighting, views, and beautiful bathroom make it the perfect place to prepare for a wedding. As much as we were impressed by the professionally designed rooms, comfortable beds, and cleanliness, our wonderful hosts felt like old friends. Their continuing research and knowledge of Susannah and the estate was only surpassed by the genuine love they have for sharing this piece of history with their guests. They arrived early to prepare our warm croissants in the morning and they were so delicious! Breakfast was served on beautiful, hand painted dishes from our hosts’ travels, and breakfast with a view of the river was unforgettable. Susannah’s (Website hidden by Airbnb) offers history, beautiful photos, and local highlights so you can explore the area, and their commitment to health and safety during this challenging time is second to none. We all felt safe, comfortable, and already can’t wait to return.

Quiet, historical, beautiful view
Quiet, historical, beautiful view of the water, this is a huge place with so much to do and delicious eats. Claudinne and Jeff could not be nicer, nor more accommodating. Hard to believe that this getaway is just an hour from DC, we are definitely headed back!

I cannot wait to revisit
Claudinne is a wonderful host! Claudinne was extremely helpful, responsive and went beyond as a hostess to ensure our visit was extremely comfortable. She helped us connect with a local distillery, that also treated us to a private tasting! I cannot wait to revisit and see more of the area. We stayed one night, but two would have been much better.
